A motorbike rider has died in a collision with a Toyota LandCruiser west of Port Macquarie on Saturday afternoon.

The motorbike and the four-wheel-drive crashed in the westbound lanes of the Oxley Hwy at Long Flat, about 47km west of Port Macquarie, about 12.30pm.

Passersby helped the rider before NSW paramedics arrived, however he died at the scene.

The rider has yet to be identified but police said he is believed to be a man in his late 60s.

The LandCruiser driver, a man in his 60s, was uninjured in the collision and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District have established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
