NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 42-year-old man at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Hospital. The man is currently undergoing surgery and is reported to be in stable condition.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were informed that a male was seen fleeing the scene on foot and entering a taxi on North Parade where he was driven from the location.

It will be alleged that the man exited the taxi and entered a fast-food restaurant on Jersey Road, Plumpton.

A short time later, a 38-year-old man was arrested on a nearby street. The man was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.

Officers have established crime scenes at the convenience store and the fast-food restaurant. The taxi has also been seized for forensic examination.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any available mobile phone/dashcam footage to contact Mt Druitt Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
