Strathpine: Woman passenger killed after car hits tree on leaving carpark in QLD

A woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and later died following a collision with a tree in a car that she was travelling in as a passenger.

The woman died following the fatal traffic crash in Strathpine on Thursday afternoon.

Initial investigations indicate that at around 2pm, a station wagon left a carpark and crashed into a nearby tree on Gympie Road.

The driver, an 87-year-old Strathpine man, was not physically injured during the crash.

The passenger, the 80-year-old Strathpine woman, sustained leg injuries and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

She experienced a medical episode and was pronounced deceased at the hospital later that day.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.
