New details emerge after two people die in fall at Western Distributor in Sydney CBD

Witnesses have recalled the tragic moment two people died after falling from a busy motorway in Sydney’s CBD.

The man and woman, believed to be in their 40s, fell from the Western Distributor about 9.45am on Saturday.

Both died by the time emergency services arrived.

After reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage, police say the deaths were not being treated as suspicious.

One man said he saw the woman take her jumper off before the tragedy occurred.

Another witness said he was sitting a few cars back from the scene when he saw something fall.

“As I got closer I saw the bodies, face down,” he wrote online.

“Good people ran to help, but nothing could be done.”

A third witness said she walked over the bridge shortly after the incident and saw the tragic outcome.

“Terribly awful and sad,” she said.

“I wish it didn’t happen and that I didn’t see it.”

7NEWS.com.au understands bystanders performed CPR on the pair until emergency services arrived.

Two southbound lanes from the Sydney Harbour Bridge were closed on Saturday in the wake of the tragedy as investigators scoured the scene.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
