Police are investigating after the grisly discovery of two decomposing bodies was made in a shipping container on a remote farm in Central West New South Wales.

The bodies of a 55-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were found about 11am on Saturday, April 13, on a property in Gulgong, about 30kms north of Mudgee.

Police say emergency services were called to Goolma Road following reports of a concern for welfare. “On arrival, officers attached to Orana-Mid Western Police District located two bodies in a shipping container,” NSW Police said in a statement. “A crime scene was established and forensically examined.”

Police confirmed a post-mortem had revealed the cause of death of both the man and the woman had been deemed not suspicious.

“Inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner,” the statement read.
