A man has been charged after allegedly knocking out a young police officer by punching her in the face on the streets of Sydney.

NSW Police said the 23-year-old female officer was responding to reports of a man lying in the middle of Bunya Rd about 6.30pm on Friday in Bidwell, in Sydney’s northwest.

Police said when the two officers approached the 19-year-old man, he allegedly assaulted the young constable by kicking and punching her, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
