Woman seen hanging from seventh-floor balcony moments before deadly fall in Sydney’s west
A man has been released without charge after a woman plunged to her death from the seventh floor of his Parramatta apartment block early on Thursday morning.
Police arrived a minute after a triple-0 call was made from a member of the public who witnessed the emergency unfolding from the street at 1.40am.
The 39-year-old woman was found in the driveway of her partner’s apartment block, and officers immediately commenced CPR.

Vincent said it was unclear how the woman, who is yet to be formally identified, came to be in the fatal situation.
“Whether she was trying to hold on ... that will form part of our lines of inquiry,” he said.
“Obviously how she came to be there is a key factor.”
Police were initially alerted to a situation at the apartment by a ghost call to triple-0 at 11.45pm on Wednesday, with “reports of raised voices” in the background.
“There was no conversation during that call and despite a further two calls from triple-0 back to the caller, contact could not be established,” Vincent said.
Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command were able to make contact at 11.47pm, and spoke to the man who answered, telling him police would attend after he provided his name and address.
However, police were dispatched to other calls for help before arriving at the high-rise almost two hours later.
“These are assessments that our officers make routinely. The decision-making around that is obviously something we will be looking at and the timings in terms of what resourcing we had available,” Vincent said.
“The assessment made by our officers is something that we will be exploring further as part of our investigation.”
A 40-year-old man at the unit was arrested and spent several hours being interviewed by police on Thursday but was released without charge about 2pm pending further investigations.
The man had an active apprehended violence order (AVO) in place against the woman - his on-again off-again partner - since November. They didn’t live together but she wasn’t breaching the order by being at the apartment.
The pair were known to police.
The phone initially used to call emergency services was not registered in the name of the man who answered it but it was believed he used it, with police investigating whether or not he initiated the first call which did not involve a direct interaction.
A strike force has been formed and police are canvassing the unit block and speaking with witnesses.
A forensic team is also going over the residence where the woman was seen hanging before her death.
Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
