A person has died in an apparent act of self-harm at a Sydney train station, causing major disruptions as passengers were evacuated.

“An incident requiring emergency services” had occurred on Sydney’s T1 train line at Lindfield in Sydney’s northwest, Sydney Trains posted on X at 12.48pm on Friday.

7NEWS understands the incident involved an apparent act of self-harm and someone died at the scene.

A video from the scene shows passengers exiting the train and walking along the tracks after services were stopped.

Sydney Trains has suspended services between Hornsby and North Sydney due to the incident.

Passengers are advised to expect delays, less frequent services, and possible last-minute stop changes.

“Use metro services between Chatswood and the City, or consider other transport options to complete your trip,” Sydney Trains said on X.
