Punchbowl shooting: Boxing coach Louis Meehan identified as man shot dead in Sydney community centre carpark
The gunman behind the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man in a community centre car park remains on the run.
The man fatally shot in a Sydney car park has been identified as Louis Meehan.
The 32-year-old boxing coach is the son of a professional boxing promoter, according to The Daily Telegraph.
News.com.au reported that Campsie Police Area Command Acting Superintendent, Dean Johnstone, described the shooting in the car park of a community centre in Punchbowl on Wednesday as “callous” and targeted attack against a man “known to police”.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the victim at the scene, but he died from his injuries.
Officers have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Supt Johnstone said the shooting was believed to be targeted, but would not confirm if it was linked to organised crime.
He described the shooting as a “callous act” that could easily have endangered others.
“We believe this was a targeted attack, but we do not believe that other persons were at risk,” Supt Johnstone told a press conference.
“However, obviously in a public place like this, those actions cannot be tolerated as it potentially endangered innocent members of the community.”
Police have been told a vehicle was seen driving away from the location following the incident.
SMH.com.au reported that Meehan has shared images of himself wearing merchandise linked to Sydney’s notorious Alameddine crime gang, including clothing from Proper-60, a group associated with the family known for the western suburb’s recent underworld wars.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time is urged to contact Campsie Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are also appealing for anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area to come forward.
The shooting comes just days after the NSW Minns government revealed tough new measures to combat gangland violence in response to the mistaken identity murders of two men, university student Marco Tapia, 23, and business owner Joshua Macdonald, 40, last week.
