Punchbowl shooting: Man fatally shot in south-west Sydney community centre carpark

A man has been shot dead in a Sydney carpark, with a major police operation underway.

A man has died after being shot in a car park in Punchbowl.

A man has been fatally shot in Sydney’s south west, with police investigating after a vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.

Emergency services were called to the carpark of a community centre on Rossmore Avenue, Punchbowl, about 5.50pm on Wednesday following reports a man had been shot.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he died from his injuries.

Officers have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police have been told a vehicle was seen driving away from the location following the incident.

The man has not yet been formally identified.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time is urged to contact Campsie Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police are also appealing for anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area to come forward.
