Port Stephens: One-year-old girl dies after being struck by ute in Tanilba Bay

A one-year-old girl was fatally struck by a Toyota Hilux in a driveway at Tenilba Bay, Port Stephens, north of Newcastle. The toddler was rushed to John Hunter Hospital where medical staff were unable to save her life.

A one-year-old girl has tragically died after being struck by a ute in Port Stephens, north of Newcastle, in New South Wales.

Emergency services rushed to a home on Loyd George Grove in Tanilba Bay around 5.40pm on Tuesday following reports a toddler had been hit by a Toyota utility vehicle.

The girl was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, where she later tragically died.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
