Putty Road, Hunter Valley: Motorcycle crash leaves one man dead and another fighting for life

A motorcyclist has been killed and another left fighting for life after a serious crash in the NSW Hunter Region.
Emergency services were called to Putty Road at Garland Valley, about 90km west of Cessnock, at around 3.20pm on Sunday, following reports that two motorcycles had collided.
Police from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and attempted to assist one of the riders, a man in his 50s, but he tragically died at the scene.

The second rider, a 58-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the site of the crash before being airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
Specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene, and a crime scene was established to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
