Shelly Beach: Swimmer missing off Port Macquarie beach, NSW, urgent search launched

Emergency services are scouring the coastline at Port Macquarie after a swimmer went missing at Shelly Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said they were called to the popular beach on Pacific Drive just before 3.40pm following reports a man had failed to resurface.
Witnesses told officers from Mid North Coast Police District the 20-year-old had entered the water a short time earlier but did not come back up.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.A major multi-agency search was launched, involving the Marine Area Command, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, NSW Marine Rescue and Surf Life Saving NSW. Despite extensive efforts, the man has not yet been found.
He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and was last seen wearing black swim shorts.
Police confirmed the search would resume on Thursday morning.
