The Sydney CBD is in chaos after a serious crash between a truck and light rail service with over 60 people evacuated.

The collision sparked commuter chaos in Haymarket on Friday morning with police called to the intersection of Pitt and Hay St shortly before 7am following reports of a crash.

The impact caused the tram to derail, prompting the evacuation of all passengers.
