Tamworth: Devastating update from police in search for 15yo missing after going for a swim in NSW river

Police have provided a devastating update in the search for a teenager who went missing after going for a swim in a NSW river.
A body has been discovered in the area following a search for a 15-year-old who entered the water in the Tamworth area before disappearing under the water just after 7.30pm on Monday evening.
Emergency services were called to the river on Scott Road and Peel Street, following reports that the boy had failed to resurface after heading into the river for a swim .

After conducting extensive searches throughout the night, police released a statement advising that at around 8.30am on Tuesday they located a body in the river near the location where the boy was last seen.
While the body is yet to be identified, they believed it “to be the one of the missing boy” the statement said.
A crime scene has been established, and police have commenced an investigation into the incident.
