A teacher’s aide has been charged with allegedly engaging in child prostitution in Sydney’s Macarthur Region.

Police say the 18-year-old man met children online and then paid to film them engaging in sexual acts with him.

It is also alleged that he had a number of fraudulent online profiles which he would use to extort young children.

Police began investigating the man’s activities in September before raiding his Picton home on November 24 and seizing electronic devices.

He was arrested at the home on Tuesday and taken to Narellan Police Station where was charged with two counts of act as client with child 14 and under and under 18 in prostitution, produce child abuse material and possess child abuse material.

The man was refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday.
