A blaze has ripped through a unit block in Sydney’s southwest on Sunday.

Firefighters removed two people from the three-storey building on Campbell St in Liverpool just after 10.15am, Fire & Rescue NSW told 7NEWS.com.au.

A ladder could be seen extended to the second story balcony where the fire broke out.

The two people that were rescued were treated for smoke inhalation by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The emergency situation is ongoing, NSW Fire & Rescue confirmed.

Paramedics will remain on scene until firefighting efforts are complete.
