Police have discovered a body stuffed inside a surfboard bag before charging a woman with murder on the NSW North Coast.

The woman was charged after a man’s body was found at a rural property.

Emergency services were called to a property in Darkwood – about 67km west of Coffs Harbour – at 7pm on Thursday, following reports a body had been found.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and found the body of a 62-year-old man in a surfboard bag on the driveway of the property.

A crime scene was established, and officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District – with the assistance of officers from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – established Strike Force Nome to investigate the death.

Following extensive inquiries, at about 2.10pm on Friday, officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrested a 35-year-old woman on Loftus Street, Nambucca Heads.

She was taken to Macksville Police Station where she was charged with murder (domestic violence). Police will be alleging in court the woman and man were known to each other.

She has been refused bail overnight to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Saturday.
