A woman has died and another is in hospital after being hit by a car behind a primary school in the Blue Mountains.

A car at a home on Hazelbrook Prd in Hazelbrook reportedly rolled down a driveway and struck the two women about 4.40pm on Saturday.

Police said the car had rolled and first hit a 53-year-old woman, before hitting an 89-year-old woman and trapping her underneath.

“Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and found an 89-year-old woman trapped underneath a hatchback,” police said.

“Emergency services attempted to free the woman; however, she died at the scene.”

The other woman was taken to Katoomba Hospital for treatment.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
