Oz Lotto: NSW winner of $15 million prize nearly didn’t buy a ticket

It almost didn’t happen.
A NSW mum nearly skipped buying her weekly OZ lotto ticket which, it turns out, would have been a $15 million mistake.
The Cobbitty woman said she realised just before the draw closed that she had forgotten to buy her usual ticket.

She scooped the entire division one prize pool, with her 50-game QuickPick entry, the only ticket to have all the numbers.
“My husband is going to be so excited when I tell him!” she told The Lott officials.
“The funny thing is, he doesn’t play, but whenever he gets a call from an unknown number, he answers and says, ‘Well, it might be The Lott!’. I always say, ‘They’ll be calling me if we win!’. This time, I was right after all.”
The woman is already planning how to spend her fortune, with a planned holiday now likely to be a first class affair and her children in line for some, no doubt, welcome financial help.
“I can help my kids. I really can’t believe this,” she said.
“We do have an upcoming holiday which we can relax on but really, this is all for our kids. It’ll be life-changing.
“I’m tongue-tied now. I’m just sitting here trying to take it all in. Thank you so much!”
Meanwhile, the hunt is still on for the mystery winner of a $100m Powerball ticket who is yet to claim their enormous prize.
That was drawn on June 12, with the lucky ticket purchased at the Bondi Junction Newsagency.
People have been urged to check their tickets, even if they don’t think they have the winning numbers.
“In previous cases where people have come forward weeks, months and even years after the draw to finally claim their prize, they’ve told us the winning ticket was hiding in plain sight the whole time – in their wallet or purse, on the fridge, or just lying around in a drawer,” The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said earlier this month.
“Imagine winning $100m and not knowing it. How might the past two months have been with a $100m boost to your bank account?”
