Kyle Sandilands has exploded in an on-air tirade, calling his co-worker a “dumb c..t” during a live interview with a Canberra principal about LGBTQIA+ education.

Sandilands, along with co-hosts Mary Madigan and Brooklyn Ross, was interviewing educator of 34-years and former school principal Janelle Rowe on Tuesday morning’s Kyle Sandilands Live show.

Rowe recently made headlines for quitting her job as she did not believe in educating school-aged children about LGBTQIA+ matters.

The principal faced backlash after refusing to allow her Canberra public school to celebrate Wear it Purple Day, an awareness event meant to support and empower LGBTQIA+ youth.

Ross, who is openly gay, questioned Rowe over her position that teaching LGBTQIA+ terminology was unsuitable for primary-school aged children.

Sandilands defended Rowe, saying she is not anti-LGBTQ+ and that Ross’ line of questioning was “a little spiky.”

“What is inappropriate about some kid having same-sex parents, or me being gay?’ Ross asked.

“That’s not what she’s saying. She’s not saying it’s inappropriate,” Sandilands replied.

Rowe reinforced that she had not explicitly stated that being gay was inappropriate.

“You have called it inappropriate. You have,” Ross insisted.

“She said she wanted to do something more age-appropriate. She doesn’t want to talk to a Muslim family’s child about...” Sandilands began, before Ross interrupted: “What is age-inappropriate about being gay?”

Tensions reached a boiling point at the interruption, with Sandilands flying off the handle.

“Hang on. I’m f...ing explaining it to you, you dumb c..t,” Sandilands said. “Can’t you understand?”

Newsreader Madigan attempted to diffuse Sandilands’ explosive response before he turned on her as well.

“You shut up, Mary! I’m not talking to you. And I’ll speak however I want,” Sandilands responded.

“We’ve got a guest here who is being attacked for just trying to broaden it out.”

“Okay. I feel attacked too. By her,” Ross responded calmly.

“You’re not attacked. She’s not against the gay community or the trans community,” Sandilands replied.

The explosive interaction follows Sandilands’ recent health update where he expressed concerns about a growing brain aneurysm diagnosis.

The radio shock jock lost his job on The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this year after an on-air fight led to a fallout between the long time radio partnership.

He now features on his own breakfast show, Kyle Sandilands Live, which Ross followed him to after a long-term working relationship on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
