“Congrats big bro 🥳❤️,” Gout Gout commented.

Mr Bol rose to national prominence at the Tokyo Olympics, where he became the first Australian in more than 50 years to reach an Olympic men’s 800-metre final.

Born in Sudan and raised in Perth after his family emigrated to Australia, Bol has since become one of the country’s most recognisable athletes.

He is a four-time national champion, the current Australian record holder over 800 metres, and a key figure in inspiring a new generation of runners.

Yaynu, who was born in Ethiopia and raised in Australia, holds degrees in psychology and criminology as well as an MBA. She works in data methodology for the Australian Bureau of Statistics and has been a steady presence through Bol’s athletic highs and lows.

The couple met as children when they ended up in the same neighbourhood in Perth. Though they were at different schools they were in the same social circles. They later rekindled a friendship and both settled in Melbourne, which led to their relationship.

They got engaged in early 2024 before welcoming their daughter, Reyna, later that year.

In a recent interview for The Fordham Company, Mr Bol explained that family life has become his central focus.

“Athletics is such a beautiful part of my life, but eventually it will end, whether it’s under my control or not,” he said.
