Carnarvon Highway: Driver killed after ute rolls on dirt shoulder of major QLD road at Roma

A driver has been killed after his ute swerved on the dirt shoulder of a major highway and rolled.

The forensic crash unit is investigating the fatal single-vehicle rollover on Carnarvon Highway on Monday night.

Initial investigations indicated that at about 6pm, a Toyota Hilux was travelling north on Carnarvon Highway, approximately 25km north of Roma, when it veered across the road and overturned on the dirt shoulder.

The 30-year-old Port Douglas male driver died at the scene and incredibly a 30-year-old female passenger was not injured in the crash.
