Cristian Volpato: Socceroos player allegedly tests positive to cocaine after driving 49km/h over speed limit
The Socceroos player was allegedly driving his BMW 49km/h over the speed limit when he was subject to a roadside drug test by police.
Socceroos midfielder Cristian Volpato has allegedly tested positive to cocaine after he was pulled over for speeding in Sydney on Friday.
Volpato, 22, was stopped by police after he allegedly drove a BMW Coupe over the Anzac Bridge at 109km/h — where the speed limit is 60km/h — after 1am on Friday.
The Socceroos player allegedly tested positive to cocaine despite telling police he had not taken drugs, before a secondary oral fluid sample was taken.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Police say Volpato was pulled over on the Anzac Bridge two hours earlier and handed an infringement notice for driving more than 20km/h over the speed limit.
The midfielder’s international driver’s license was suspended for six months, and police say investigations are continuing into the positive cocaine result.
Volpato, who has just returned from North America after representing Australia at the World Cup, has not been charged with a criminal offence.
The 22-year-old was born in Sydney and moved to Italy to play football for Serie A club AS Roma, before he moved to club Sassuolo in 2023.
Reports suggest Volpato was due to fly out to begin pre-season training with Sassuolo on Friday before his driving offence.
