Mudgeeraba: Young motorbike rider killed after collision with tow truck in Queensland

Emergency services tried in vain to assist a young motorbike rider who died after a collision with a tow truck in Queensland.

The 21-year-old man died following the crash at Mudgeeraba on Thursday evening.

Initial investigations indicated that at approximately 5.05pm, a Yamaha YZ400F trail bike was travelling east along Franklin Drive when it crashed into the tow truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The rider sustained critical injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he passed away.

The driver of the truck, a 41-year-old Robina man, was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
