Parkdale Road death: ‘Well-known and respected’ Bourke woman 47, found dead outside home, crime scene ongoing
Police have appealed for the public’s assistance as they investigate the death of a Bourke woman earlier this week.
A 47-year-old woman’s body was found outside her home at Parkdale Road, Bourke on the morning of October 29. Emergency services were called to the scene at about 8am.
A crime scene was established shortly after and police carried out an “extensive canvass” of the area — including speaking to multiple people and conducting a forensic examination where the 47-year-old woman’s body was found.

With a post-mortem examination is expected to conducted in the coming days, police have renewed their appeal for information to assist their investigation.
Superintendent Gerard Lawson, commander of the Central North Police District, said police will have a “clearer idea of the circumstances of the women’s death” after the post-mortem.
“I have spoken with family members, and we are continuing to support them and keep them informed,” Supt Lawson said.
“She has been a well-known and respected long-time member of the Bourke community for much of her life, and her death has caused widespread distress.”
Police want anyone with information about the 47-year-old woman’s death or who were in the area at the time of her death and have relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage to contact Bourke Police Station or Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000).
“I renew our appeal for assistance from anyone in the community who can provide information to assist investigators,” Supt Lawson said.
A 49-year-old Bourke man was arrested at the scene shortly after the woman’s body was found. He has not been charged in relation to her death.
He has, however, been charged with DV stalking/intimidation charges after allegedly threatening a 42-year-old man with a weapon in an unrelated incident on Sunday, October 27 after information was received during the investigation.
Officers were called to Parkdale Road on the night of October 27 over reports of two males fighting. After making inquiries, no offences were detected or disclosed. A formal statement was made at the Bourke Police Station on October 29.
The 49-year-old man was refused bail and appeared in Cobar Local Court on Wednesday, October 30, here he was remanded in custody to re-appear in the Bourke Local Court on Thursday, November 7.
