Queensland: 70-year-old woman charged with murder over death of Down syndrome man Isaac Oar
A woman has been charged with murder over the death of non-verbal man who was found unresponsive and ‘malnourished’ at a North Queensland home.
A 70-year-old woman has been charged with murder over the death of a 56-year-old man who was found unresponsive at a North Queensland home in 2023.
Detectives from the Crime Command Homicide Investigation Unit and Ayr Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the Forest Lake woman on Tuesday and charged her with one count of murder (domestic violence).
Isaac Oar, who was also known as “Ike”, was found dead at an Alice Street residence in Ayr on August 10, 2023, after emergency services were called to the property.

Police previously said Mr Oar was experiencing serious malnourishment.
“Extensive investigations and forensic medical examinations were conducted, including a thorough post-mortem, which revealed Isaac was experiencing serious malnourishment, weighing just 29kg at the time of his death,” a spokesperson said.
Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said at the time that Mr Oar had not received professional medical treatment for more than a decade.
“He was only 29 kilos, that doesn’t happen overnight,” he said.
“There has obviously been years of neglect in some format.”
Queensland Police said the investigation into Mr Oar’s death had been complex, with detectives conducting extensive inquiries into his health, care and treatment throughout his life.
The woman is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
