Annan River, Cooktown: Search continues for missing fisherman after ‘crocodile attack’ in far north Queensland

A search is underway for a missing man suspected to have been taken by a crocodile in far north Queensland at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Annan River Bridge in Cooktown on Saturday afternoon after receiving reports a 40-year-old man had been taken by a crocodile.

Queensland Police believe the man, from NSW, was fishing on a riverbank when he fell into the water and failed to resurface.

In a post to X, formerly Twitter, Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics and emergency services were searching for “a male patient after a reported crocodile attack near Mulligan highway at 2.07pm”, on Saturday.

Police and wildlife officers and are involved in the search operation, which continues.
