A toddler has been rushed to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries after a terrifying dog attack.

A dog escaped and joined runners in a mini-marathon in Indiana, completing several kilometres before being intercepted by police.

A toddler has been rushed to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries after a terrifying dog attack.

The two-year-old girl reportedly suffered a significant neck injury during the frightening encounter at a home in the small Queensland town of Beaudesert on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the house in Gould Hill Road at 5.14pm.

“The young girl sustained multiple serious injuries”, a police spokesperson said.

“Police will be assisting Scenic Rim council officers in relation to the matter.”

The breed of dog has not been revealed.

A spokesperson for Queensland Children’s Hospital said the toddler was in a stable condition.
