A Queensland teacher and her husband have been identified as a couple killed in a horror motorbike crash in Brisbane over the weekend.

Beloved special needs teacher Sandra Schuptar, 65, and her husband Peter, 63, were riding a motorbike which crashed with a 4WD at the intersection of Mount Cotton Rd and Coorang Rd at Carbrook about 7.30pm on Sunday.

They were initially treated for serious injuries but were declared dead soon after.

The Mount Ommaney Special School where Sandra Schuptar worked said the entire school community was heartbroken by the news.

“The news of their passing comes as a shock to us all. We are heartbroken beyond belief,” it said.

“All of our thoughts and prayers are with their family at this time.”

A school parent said they “could not stop crying”.

“This is so incredibly tragic. An earth angel taken far too soon,” the parent said.

“Sandra was always advocating for our children. May her and Peter rest peacefully.”

Queensland Association of Special Education Leaders paid tribute to Sandra Schuptar’s contribution to her field.

“Sandra’s impact on special education ... is immeasurable, it said, offering “heartfelt condolences to their family and the Mount Ommaney Special School community”.

The Schuptars were also much-loved figures in the local Jewish community, running prayer groups and leading groups to Israel each year.

The 21-year-old man driving the 4WD involved in the crash was not physically injured, police said.

“The forensic crash unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident,” they said.

Anyone with relevant information, including dash camera or CCTV footage, is urged to contact police.
