Officers intercepted the vehicle and conducted a roadside breath test (RBT), which the man allegedly returned positive.
The 57-year-old man allegedly recorded a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.092 per cent, which is almost twice the legal limit.

He now faces charges over driving over the alcohol limit and for dangerous driving, including speeding and taking part in an illegal race.
QPS said it remains committed to reducing the number of lives lost on Queensland roads.

“Serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the Fatal Five behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction,” QPS said.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
