Two men have been charged after police seized a firearm and stolen property linked to a truck that was allegedly travelling the wrong way before a fatal crash on the Bruce Highway.

The white flat-bed truck was travelling on the wrong side of the highway at Burpengary about 10.30pm on Tuesday when it collided head-on with a Honda Accord driven by 26-year-old Andre Roberts, who died at the scene.

Police clarified on Sunday the stolen truck was a Hino model bearing false registration plates linked to another vehicle, after it was initially believed to be an Isuzu.

As part of the ongoing homicide investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a Redcliffe address on Friday, where they seized allegedly stolen property and a firearm linked to the truck.

A 49-year-old and a 36-year-old man, both from Redcliffe, have been charged with enter premises, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and weapons offences.

They are scheduled to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on March 16.

Dashcam footage of the crash indicated the truck was travelling on the wrong side of the highway at “excessive speed” for about 1km, with several vehicles following.

Police have said it may have been chased by at least one vehicle.

As of Sunday, detectives have identified all vehicles involved and a number of people are assisting with inquiries.

The 46-year-old truck driver remains in a critical condition and has not yet been interviewed by police.

Investigations continue.
