A bolt caused the ceiling of Bloom’s Burpengary bedroom to cave in and her mattress to catch fire just before 3am.

“It hit the roof and everything just exploded,” Bloom told 7NEWS, with her powerpoints and electrical cables destroyed.

“Everything was white and I had this ringing in my ears.”

The teen had been using her phone on charge when her home was struck by lightning.

“My arm was stuck.... tensed. And it was fully numb. Everything was numb,” she said.

Her neighbour next door also copped a “good shock” while scrolling on his phone.

“Got me right across my arms,” Jack Thom told 7NEWS.

At least a dozen Anzac Day Dawn Services and marches were cancelled as residents around Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast woke to the wild weather on Friday.

Along with the thousands of lightning strikes, the storms also brought heavy rain.

Nambour copped 200mm of rain in just three hours, cutting off homes and seeping into shops.

“Everything looked so beautiful yesterday and today it’s a mess,” local Frank Browne said.

Several drivers caught out by the floodwaters had to be rescued, but it cleared almost as fast as the rain fell.

Residents and business owners are now cleaning up from the third flood this year, with some only just having recovered from Cyclone Alfred.
