A teenage boy has been arrested following an alleged dangerous driving spree across Queensland, during which passengers were allegedly seen hanging out of a speeding car on a busy highway.

Queensland Police released footage of the 15-year-old’s arrest at a Burpengary property on Sunday, following a three-day investigation into the alleged hooning incident.

Police allege a black Ford Falcon was driven dangerously through Mango Hill, Burpengary and Clontarf between 3pm and 8pm on Thursday, October 22.

In one particularly alarming incident, occupants were allegedly spotted leaning out of the vehicle’s windows as it travelled at high speeds along the Bruce Highway at Caboolture about 4.20pm.

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in bushland near Twin View Road in Elimbah on Sunday and seized by police.

The teen has been charged with nine offences, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, driving without due care and attention, and wearing a face mask for the commission of an indictable offence.

It’s alleged the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured and he was travelling with a passenger’s body outside the vehicle.

The teenager is fronting Caboolture Children’s Court on Monday.

Senior Sergeant Tom Jakes slammed the alleged behaviour, warning it could have had devastating consequences.

“This incident demonstrated an extremely reckless disregard for the safety of the occupants, other road users and members of the public,” he said.

“The community can be assured that dangerous driving behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated.

“Those involved in hooning activities should expect that we will continue to utilise every available investigative avenue to identify offenders and hold them accountable.”
