Cairns homicide investigation: Detectives probe suspicious death of 67-year-old Bungalow woman

A homicide investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found at a home in Cairns on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a house on Joan Street in Bungalow about 3.35pm, after reports a woman had sustained a critical head injury.

First responders found a 67-year-old woman at the home with life-threatening injuries.

“Emergency services attempted to revive the woman; however, she was declared deceased at the scene a short time later,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Police said a woman was assisting detectives with their enquiries.

A crime scene has been roped off at the scene as Cairns detectives investigate the suspicious death.

Police are calling on witnesses, or anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers.

No charges have been laid at this stage.
