Driver dead, passenger fighting for life after car and caravan crash into creek off Bruce Hwy

A driver is dead and a passenger fighting for life after a car towing a caravan plunged into a creek off a major highway.
A Mazda ute towing a caravan and a Toyota ute crashed on the Bruce Hwy near Roys Rd, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, about 11.20am on Thursday.
The Mazda driver, a man aged in his 80s, died from his injuries before he could be taken to hospital.

She suffered life-threatening injuries to the chest and abdomen, Queensland Ambulance Service said.
The Toyota driver was uninjured.


Members of the public were seen performing CPR before paramedics arrived, with multiple emergency crews responding.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident are urged to contact police.
