Police and surf lifesavers launched a large-scale search.

They scoured the area on foot and using all-terrain vehicles, as well as the surf via the air using a police helicopter and on jet skis.

The girl’s father provided a photo to lifesavers, who passed it on to other authorities on the Gold Coast.

About 3pm, the girl walked into the Southport Surf Life Saving Club, which is about 3km north of Surfers Paradise.

It’s believed she walked to Southport along the coastline.

She has been reunited with her family.
