The woman was found with life-threatening burns on her body, Queensland Ambulance Service told 7NEWS.com.au.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition, Queensland Police said.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count each of attempted murder and common assault.

He is expected to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, January 20.

A crime scene was established at the home, and secondary crime scenes were established at Gould Adams Park on Kingston Rd and the Kingston Train Station.

State to bolster domestic and family violence reform

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli addressed the devastating impact that this incident, and those like it, are having on the state, in a press conference on Sunday.

“I want Queenslanders to know how much sorrow the state has experienced, and how much the state is thinking about the young woman involved,” he said.

“To the family, to the neighbours, to the first responders, to every Queenslander, these are the kinds of incidents that rock communities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”

Queensland MP Amanda Camm also addressed the incident while introducing domestic and family violence policy reforms at the press conference.

“I also want to extend my thoughts and best wishes to the young woman, who we understand is still in a serious condition.

“Her condition will evolve in the coming days, but her life will be forever changed.

“I will be taking action to bolster the oversight of domestic and family violence reform.”

She said this includes the implementation of an expert panel made up of academics and peak representatives in the sector with expertise in best practice.

Camm said she had been advised by Implementation Supervisor Cathy Taylor that domestic and family violence policy reform requires urgent consolidation and prioritisation.

“We have come to a critical point with domestic and family violence policy,” Camm said.
