A 10-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries with severe injuries to his face after being struck by a police vehicle outside a school south of Brisbane on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Jacaranda Avenue and Wembley Road in Logan Central about 2.56pm, where the child was found with significant facial injuries.

He was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition, with early reports suggesting the injuries may be life-threatening.

The crash reportedly occurred near a school, though the circumstances of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

Queensland Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway into the collision, which involved one of their own vehicles.
