Man, 19, charged with excessively speeding causing death of woman in Coopers Plains crash

A woman has been killed by an out of control car that flipped and struck her while she was jogging in Coopers Plains. The alleged driver is a teenager who survived the crash, security video reveals the moments before impact.

A teenager has been accused of excessively speeding when he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in Brisbane.

The 19-year-old man has been charged over the death of the 35-year-old woman who was walking on a footpath in Coopers Plains about 4.45am last Thursday.

The Logan man was allegedly driving a Mitsubishi Lancer west on Kessels Rd when he veered off the road and struck the woman, killing her instantly.

The woman was thrown some distance by the impact into bushland, with emergency services locating her body several metres from the car.

The driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing death while excessively speeding. He faces a maximum of 20 years in jail if found guilty.

He also stands accused of driving unaccompanied while a learner.

He remains behind bars ahead of an appearance in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
