Man crashes car into house before jumping into Sunshine Coast waterway during getaway

A man has been on the Sunshine Coast's Pumicestone Passage after crash a car into a house at Gold Beach.

A man has jumped into Sunshine Coast waters, then onto a boat, as he allegedly fled the scene after crashing a stolen car into a house.

The man was taken into custody by police about 9.30am on the Pumicestone Passage after crashing into an Anning Ave house on at Golden Beach, near Caloundra, about 6am on Monday.

Police allege the Ford Ranger was stolen from a Wurtulla home earlier in the morning.

No one was injured in the crash, however the house and a vehicle were damaged.

The man ran from the scene and was spotted by police swimming towards Pelican Waters.

He climbed into a small boat, before police negotiated with him while the man allegedly “made threats”.

He jumped from the boat into the water a second time, before climbing aboard another boat.

He was arrested when he surrendered to police negotiators.

He is yet to be charged.
