A man has been rescued after spending 36 hours in Brisbane’s drain system trying to retrieve his phone.

A rescue operation with paramedics and two Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews was launched in Kangaroo Point, in Brisbane’s inner city, on Monday morning after a resident spotted the man inside a drain.

Firefighters lifted the lid on the drain so the man could climb out with rescue efforts taking all of five minutes.
