Margate: 17-year-old girl dies after horror hit-and-run in Queensland’s Redcliffe Peninsula
A teenage girl has died after being struck by a car in Queensland’s Redcliffe Peninsula.
Emergency services were called to Margate Parade in Margate shortly before 11.30pm on Monday, following reports that a 17-year-old girl had been hit by a car while walking along the coastal road.
The vehicle involved, believed to be a white utility vehicle, fled the scene following the incident.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Upon arrival, in the area just north of Brisbane, police located the girl with life-threatening injuries and performed CPR, however, she could not be saved.
Neighbours say they heard a loud thud before tires screeching.
“Mum came, woke me up. She was like, ‘Someone’s just been hit out the front’,” James Lane, who lives across the road from where the incident unfolded, told Sunrise.
“It’s very sad that someone’s just decided to hit and run. Very unfortunate. Very sad for the family and for the person who has lost their life.”
Investigations remain ongoing and a manhunt is underway for the driver.
