An exclusion zone declared across multiple streets in Toowoomba has been revoked after police responded to reports of an armed person in the area.

Police said they were alerted to an armed person at a property near Anzac Ave and Wombyra St, Newtown just after 3pm Friday.

An exclusion zone was declared, encompassing Hursley Rd, Anzac Ave, Wombyra St, Edith St and Holberton St.

Residents within the zone were asked to remain indoors and members of the public to avoid the area.

Police have since revoked the emergency declaration.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public,” police said. “Residents are thanked for their cooperation.”
