A 13-year-old girl has suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a shark in waters off Queensland’s east coast.

The teenager was swimming near Fred Courtice Ave at Bargara Beach in Bundaberg, 220km north of Brisbane, on Friday afternoon when she was bitten.

The shark is understood to have released the girl quickly after grabbing hold, leaving her with multiple puncture wounds to her upper and lower back.
