Queensland teenager killed in serious crash in Tummaville near Toowoomba

The vehicle crashed into a tree before bursting into flames.

A teenager has died in a fiery crash south of Toowoomba.

Initial investigations indicate a white Toyota utility was travelling east on Owens Scrub Road, towards Leyburn in Tummaville just before 3pm on Friday when it left the road, struck a tree, and caught on fire.

7NEWS understands one 17-year-old boy was able to escape the wreckage and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

However, the 18-year-old male driver died at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or dashcam vision that could assist investigations to come forward.
