The brother of controversial Olympic breakdancer Raygun has been charged with dealing with suspected proceeds of crime.

The Queensland man allegedly handled bank cheques containing $180,000 deposits made by victim investors.

An ASIC statement said Brendan Gunn, from the Brisbane suburb of Camp Hill, was a director for Mormarkets Pty Ltd when he allegedly tried to open a series of bank accounts “on an ongoing basis to receive and transfer deposits”.

Mr Gunn allegedly tried to open these bank accounts despite them being “repeatedly closed due to concerns about scams and Mr Gunn being informed of these concerns”.

He allegedly dealt with two bank cheques worth $180,000 containing amounts made by three victim investors who had deposited money for conversion to cryptocurrency.

The company, Mormarkets Pty Ltd, accepts deposits from Australians for conversion to cryptocurrency and for other investment opportunities.

In a 2024 post on X, Mr Gunn expressed support for his sister, Rachael Gunn, after her Olympic bid in breakdancing which was widely mocked.

“Could not be prouder of my amazing sister #raygun aka Rachael Gunn who did an incredible job competing in a brand new Olympic sport representing this great country,” he wrote.

“You will always be a winner to me.”

Mr Gunn appeared in the Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of three years in jail, a fine of up to $37,800 or both.

He is due to appear in court again on April 29.
