Bodies found in search for man and woman missing on outback prospecting holiday in Queensland
Two bodies have been found during an “extensive search and rescue operation” for a man and woman who disappeared while on an outback prospecting trip in Queensland.
The 65-year-old East Toowoomba man and 69-year-old NSW woman were last seen leaving a caravan park on Alldridge St in Croydon, in Far North Queensland near the Gulf of Carpentaria, on Sunday.
The pair had left to go prospecting at Esmeralda Station, Queensland Police said.

A land and air search began on Tuesday involving a Rescue 510 helicopter, several mustering helicopters, QPS Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad officers on motorbikes and horseback, and SES officers on foot with drone capabilities.
The pair’s vehicle was found on Monday at Esmeralda Station near Rifle Creek Ridge with several personal items inside including mobile phones.
Late on Wednesday, police confirmed the man and woman had been found deceased by a helicopter about 5pm.
“Police conducted an extensive land and air search over the remote area which sadly resulted in locating the pair deceased,” Search and Rescue Coordinator Sergeant Winfried Weiss said.
Their bodies were found about 2.5km from their vehicle.
