A man charged with murder after two people were found dead north of Brisbane has been remanded in custody.

Steven Mataka Henry was taken into custody after police found two people unresponsive at a home in Kentville Street, Mitchelton before 9am on Thursday.

He did not appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court when his charges were mentioned on Friday.

Due to the serious nature of the charges Henry was unable to apply for bail.

Police said a 61-year-old man from Keperra and a 35-year-old Mitchelton woman were declared dead at the scene.

Henry, of Greenslopes, was taken into custody at the scene and allegedly known to the pair.

Police allege the 41-year-old did not contact emergency services.

Henry has been charged with two counts of murder (reckless indifference), two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

His charges are set to be mentioned again in the same court on October 8.
