A worker has died after a bulldozer rolled at Sun State Cement in the Port of Brisbane.

The death of a worker killed in a bulldozer rollover at the Port of Brisbane has been labelled “unacceptable” by one of Australia’s biggest trade unions.

The Australian Workers’ Union (AWU) made the comments after the worker died on Bulk Terminals Drive, in north Brisbane, about 6.20am on Friday.

Emergency services found the worker in a life-threatening condition before declaring him dead at the scene.

Queensland’s Fire Department was called out to stabilise the bulldozer, a spokesperson said.

Footage from the site shows a bulldozer partially resting against another piece of heavy machinery, with its rear end propped up by a jack.

Workers in hi-vis could be seen speaking with emergency services after the tragedy with Queensland Police confirming it had investigated.

“Officers are working with Workplace Health and Safety in relation to the investigation and will prepare a report for the coroner,” police said.

The AWU said union organisers have spoken directly with members on site and are offering support.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the worker who has tragically lost his life,” said Stacey Schinnerl, Queensland Secretary of the AWU.

“Every worker should be able to go to work and come home safe. In this day and age, tragedies like this simply should not be happening.

“This loss is unacceptable. The AWU will be working closely with Sunstate Cement to make sure workers have access to the support they need and that the site is safe.

“Our priority is the wellbeing of our members and ensuring that lessons are learned so no other family has to experience this kind of loss.”

The union said it will continue to represent its members through this difficult time and will cooperate fully with investigations to ensure the circumstances surrounding the incident are thoroughly examined.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland confirmed it has been notified of the incident.

“WHSQ inspectors are onsite and inquiries into the incident are underway, as this is an active investigation, no further comment can be made at this time,” a spokesperson said.

Sunstate Cement Ltd declined to comment when contacted by 7NEWS.com.au.

Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
