Since 2011, 206 people have died in quad bike accidents across Australia. Thirteen of those have been in 2024.
Almost one fifth of those were aged 19 or under.
Under new workplace regulations for quad bikes that came into effect in Queensland in March, quad bikes can only be operated by those over 16 unless the manufacturer recommends a different age.
Passengers should also be over 16 years unless the quad bike manufacturer states a younger suitable age. All quad bike drivers and passengers must wear helmets.
